Choir Party - June 27th 2026
A garden party was held on the afternoon of Saturday 27th June in the Bishop's Palace garden to celebrate the choir's year and make presentations to choristers who were leaving their Exeter choir journey early. It was a busy afternoon for the choir, as the party followed the afternoon Ordination service.
The party made use of the marquee in the garden and had free run of the garden itself. The hot afternoon was refreshed with Pimms, cold soft drinks, ice cream, hot-dogs and cakes. With many thanks to Sally Sedgman, a devoted supporter of the choir for many years, for donating the ice cream!
Most of those at the party had never been into this wonderful garden in the middle of the city. Choristers from the 1960s and 1970s will remember being frequently in the garden, where they used cricket nets near the gateway entrance from the West Wing car park. More recently, the pre-prep pupils in Hall House used to process through the garden as a very convenient route to and from lunch in the Chantry (especially useful during the very busy Christmas Market).
The party was hosted and supported by the Exeter Cathedral Old Choristers' Association and the Exeter Cathedral Choir Association.
With grateful thanks to the Bishop for allowing use of his garden.
