Head Chorister

Photographs of the Head Chorister during the academic year 1972-1973. This may be Jonathan Bint (with thanks for this identification and the dates to Nick Hilliard, chorister 1966-1972. Nick was Deputy Head Chorister and Edward Hardy was Head, 1971-1972. Another chorister has queried this identification though.).
The medal consists of the shield of St Peter (the Cathedral's patron saint) and a banner below which reads: DUX CANTORUM (leader of the singers). The whereabouts of this medal is unknown (it is not in any of the Cathedral's collections).
The Deputy Head Chorister had a similar medal of office. Both medals were kept in the Cathedral safe. A virger carried them to the vestry before each service and returned them afterwards. (with thanks to Clive Dickinson, alto at this time, for this information)
The photographs are 35 mm slides from a Schools Resource Pack created in 1972.
The Resource Pack includes a recording stated as being an interview with the Head Chorister, but he is not named. Since the material for the resource Pack was assembled in 1972, the recording could be either Jonathan or his predecessor Edward:
Pictures and information about the resource pack are available online. An original pack is in the Exeter Cathedral Archive.
