Wippells Service

Exeter Cathedral - Wippells service

Tuesday, September 26th

The Cathedral hosted a special evensong of thanksgiving for past and present staff and customers of clerical outfitters, Wippells. Many choristers will remember their shop on the north side of the Close (more recently the location of 'Edinburgh Woollen Mill' - now closed for several years). Exeter-based Wippells has been trading since 1789, supplying vestments and furnishings to clergy and churches throughout the world. The Exeter shop off Cowick Street closed on 14th September. The company will soon cease trading altogether. Photo: Exeter Cathedral Milestones, 27.9.23)
