Cathedral evensong under Covid regulations

November 2020 - Evensong under Covid regulations. The choir did not sing from the first Covid lockdown in March 2020 until the start of the September term that year.

Under the Covid regulations in place at that time, the choir could only sing in the nave. Choristers had to be spaced one metre apart and adults, two metres. The choir consequently took up a very large area. The music desks were brought from the song schools, placed there in 2012 when the new song schools and clergy sacristy in the West Wing of the Bishop's Palace were fitted. The position of the desks was marked on the floor with white tape, to ensure correct spacing.

Congregation numbers were restricted and their seats spaced wide apart.
