No. 36e - Ruins of the Cathedral School after bombing

Commentary by Eric Dare: Langhorne on the steps.

This bombing raid took the life of one of his daughters as well as three members of his domestic staff. It must have been a very emotional visit to the ruins.

The steps led to Langhorne's study and are those on which many of the photographs of the boys were taken.

The Singing School building on the left, appears to have at least partially survived.

This must have been very soon after the raid, as a fire hose still lies on the ground. The photograph also suggests there is still smoke in the air.
