No. 24d - Holyshute House, Honiton, Rev. Langhorne with unknown

Commentary by Eric Dare: Could that be Lionel Dakers with Guv?

Dakers was born in 1924, so he would be 18 in 1942, the earliest period for this photograph, so the man next to Langhorne could be him. But one wonders why he was there. He was not appointed at Exeter as organist until 1957, but he was a Special Commissioner for the Royal School of Church Music (1958–1972), which may have given him cause to visit Exeter.

Eric does not suggest the man is a member of school staff, whom he would know.

Another possibility is that this is Langhorne's son Eadward, though he would have been 35 in 1942, and this man looks younger than that. Perhaps it was a son-in-law.
